Earlier this afternoon it started pouring heavily while on my way home… I got the sudden craving for Hot Roasted Chestnuts.. OMG! where do I find chestnuts!
I had not seen any push cart selling roasted chestnuts around my area for ages and there are also no permanent stalls selling chestnuts around my area. Unless there is Pasar Malam (Night Market) set up around the neighbourhood I might be lucky.
Sadly there is no Pasar Malam, I decided to try my luck at a local supermarket – NTUC Fairprice. I remembered seeing them selling it previously. As I walk along the vegetables aisles, there were no chestnuts. Disappointed!~ Then I tired the Korean section and YES I saw it!!
For a box of 500g, its approximately S$7. It is definitely much cheaper than buying it from the push cart and the chestnuts from Korea are huge! Just need to put in a little effort to prepare it.

Let me share with you how to bake it at home. It is very easy & convenient!
Directions..
– Preheat oven at 220 Degree Celsius for about 15 mins (Do adjust accordingly to your oven models)
– Scored a “X” at the chestnuts. This will help the steam to escape from the shell during the baking process.
– Once oven is preheat, put the chestnuts with the “X” facing up and bake it for about 20 mins. (This is dependent to your oven setting)

– Thereafter, place the chestnuts in a towel and rub the nuts gently. This will help you de-shell the chestnuts easily. Otherwise, it will be difficult to de-shell it when it cools down.

Lastly, enjoy the hot delicious goodness! =)
