Singapore – Harry Potter Forbidden Forest Experience

Note: At the time of writing, there is a 25% off the ticket price. Do check out their official website to purchase the tickets.

Was excited when I read the news that Singapore will be hosting the Harry Potter Forbidden Forest Experiences last year (2023).

Boy the ticket was not cheap. What was advertised on the news – S$55ish and the ticket price we purchased for early bird special last November when it open was not so special after all. The ticket was so expensive and I paid S$85 for it!

When selecting the dates we wanted to visit, we checked March 2023 weather since it was raining almost daily at the point of booking the tickets. Finally we settled for a Friday evening a week after the march school holidays in hopes that it will not be so crowded and the weather would be nice. Given that this is an outdoor experience, even if the weather is bad there will be no refund nor change in reservation slot. Therefore we would only hope for the best!

When the day arrives the weather was so nice. It was not raining, rather it was very windy and best of all not crowded! Though we booked the 7.30pm slot, the organisers allow us to enter around 7.15pm.

To be honest I did not even know that Sentosa Costal Walk even exists until the Harry Potter Experience. We saw kids deck out in full wizard outfit and parents wearing the various house scarfs. There were also family members/friends who were not a Potter fans but sill tag along helping to take photos along the way.

The adventure started when the skies was still bright and slowly the skies transition to dusk and thereafter completely dark. To be able to hear the water lapping again the shoreline sounds very pleasing to the ears.

With a touch of technology, sound and lighting it makes the trail so wholesome. Throughout the trail, we were able to listen to snippets of the characters’ voices, taking photos of life-size figurines and the decorations to make the trail feel like a magical forbidden forest. There were opportunities to experience the interactive exhibits such as wand duel and casting of charm!

When it comes to food and merchandise, like all other reviews I read it could have been better. Everything was priced very high and it was simply not worth it to purchase for keepsake. The cost of the butter beer was rather high for a small cup and it tasted horrible.

Merchandise selections were so limited. There could be more varieties of the merchandise – recycle bag, pin badge seems rather ordinary. The organizer could have offered a Harry Potter theme cookies / pastry / chocolate for every ticket holder given the high price point of the ticket. We would appreciate little things like this to remember the experience better.

The merchandise and food booths were located closer to the taxi stand opposite Sentosa Costal Walk as outside food and drinks are not allowed within the trail. The path leading to the booths and how it was set up does not attract me much. It was more transactional, there was no hype to build up the excitement leading to the booths. Rather my reaction was “huh, just like this?” Therefore, it’s kind of disappointing.

Apart from the mediocre food and limited merchandise, the walking trail was magical at least for me. I thoroughly enjoyed myself, from seeing the skies change from daylight to dusk to dark, various opportunity to experience magical moment via their interactive exhibits and photo taking opportunities. I would have preferred if there was more to see and enjoy and more affordable ticket and food/snack options!

XOXO
