Eyre Peninsula – Coffin Bay National Park

Coffin Bay National Park is about 40 mins drive from our Air BNB at Port Lincoln. For most part of the park it is accessible by a 2 wheel drive and there will be signage to indicate if certain park of the park can only be access by a 4 wheel drive.

There are various hiking trails and camping ground around the National park. Entrance fee is Aud 12.50 per vehicle, which will need to be purchase online before entering the park. If you are planning to camp overnight depending on where you wish to stay you will be charge accordingly – https://www.parks.sa.gov.au/parks/coffin-bay-national-park .

There is a boardwalk trail and from a distance we can see sand dunes. Since we only have a 2 wheel drive, our visit is kind of limited. I am sure with a 4 wheel there would be more stunning trails / sights that awaits to be explore.

Some sights may look meh, but when capture on camera it looks stunning. I saw a group of birds – gray and red in colour flocking around the beach area. From research seems like it called Galah, tried to take some photos of it but I was unsuccessful.

Toward the tail end of our visit at the park, we stop at this final stop. Thunder was clapping at the background, it was getting windy, the sky is slowly turning dark and it was a matter of time that the rain would start pouring. Being a typical tourist, I would want to capture as many photos as possible for memories as I do not know when I will be back to visit this place again.

I saw this bird (Pacific Gull ?) perching at the edge of the cliff chilling and minding its own business. When another birdy friend flew and perch somewhere close to it, it kind of ignore it. Even as I tried to move closer to it and take a better shot, no reaction whatsoever. If it could speak it would probably shoo me away or probably it might be thinking “You silly human go back to your vehicle before you get wet!”.

Anyways, as we were happily trying to take the final few shots, without a warning the rain starting pouring! And we made a mad dash towards the car. The same bird which has no reaction, started screaming as if it was laughing at us human beings for being such an idiot or maybe its screaming because of the rain?

Well I choose to believe that the bird is laughing at the humans. If the bird is human, it would probably be rolling on the ground laughing at our actions. I will never forget this scene, come to think about it, it was rather comical! lol!

I enjoyed my visit to the national park, perhaps in the future if I get to visit it again I would be more prepared and want to do some hiking around the park. Till then ~

XOXO
