Singapore – Swee Choon Dim Sum Restaurant (Main Branch)

Looking for late night Dim Sum at affordable price, I would say Swee Choon would be the place to visit. They established since 1962 and had been serving affordable Dim Sum to the community. I was introduced to this place by a friend a few years back. Since then we had since visited them numerous occasions and brought friends/relatives over to satisfy late night hunger pang after long flight into Singapore.

Swee Choon is a fuse free restaurant with both air con and non air con seating. To secure a seat without waiting for a long time, you would need to be strategic with the timing of arrival. Else once the crowds arrive, you would need to wait for quite a while before you will be assigned with a seat. If you are looking for more premium Dim Sum / services then Swee Choon will not be the one for you.

The selections available is not too bad, you will have a variety of options such as fried/baked, steamed, cooked dish, soup, noodles/rice, etc. The price point is decent as well, with the starting price from SGD 1.80 to SGD 8, they have dinner special (starting price differs) which is available from 6pm daily.

In every restaurant there will hit or miss items. For me personally I enjoyed their Swee Choon mee suah kueh (something different from the other dim sum restaurant), Sichuan chili oil wanton, fried prawn dumplings and pork ribs. Tried their cook dish for the first time, their hor fun is surprisingly good. It has the wok hay and somehow it tasted something similar to Penang style! Layer pancake with egg and pork floss is a no go for me, it does not taste nice and I was kind of disappointed.

If you have not visited them before do give them a try. It is about 8 mins walk from Farrer Park MRT Station. Their operation hours are as follows:

Breakfast / Lunch

  • Mon to Fri: 9 am to 3pm (Last order 2.30pm)
  • Sat, Sun & PH: 9 am to 4pm (Last order 3.30pm)

Dinner

  • 6 pm to 4 am ( Last order 3.30am) Daily *Closed every Tuesday except PH*

XOXO
