With the pandemic still on going, we wanted an activity where we can avoid as much crowd as possible and also stay healthy. So we decided to embark on this walking trail to explore the nature part of Singapore. The initial plan was to walk all the way to Windsor Nature Park. As my legs has already turned jelly and I could not go any further hence we stop at Lower Peirce Reservoir. 🥴
Each park or reservoir has its own beauty and story to share. Hence, I will share each destination in a separate post and you can decide the starting point you wish to embark.
We started out bright and early from Khatib MRT station (one of Singapore local transport) at about 7am and slowly make our way to Lower Seletar Reservoir. The distance is about 3.1 KM.

Lower Seletar Reservoir is about 4.3 hectares (about 8 football fields) and it is located at the northern part of Singapore. Over the years, the amenities has improved. I remembered it wasn’t very accessible in past, to go to the reservoir we have to run across the road. Traffic lights with pedestrian crossing was not available then. I don’t recall visiting the reservoir much when I was younger, mostly we will bypass the reservoir to access the highway to go downtown.

Now a days, Lower Seletar Reservoir is a place where fitness enthusiasts would go for a jog, leisure strolls, Tai Chi class or even Zumba class. There are also benches along the reservoir where people can relax and chill while admiring the calm and tranquil surrounding.
There are a few ways to reach the reservoir.
- Take any bus from the bus stop opposite Khatib MRT Station and alight at the 2nd bus stop (you will see a stadium on your left side, press the bell and alight on the next bus stop) you will need to walk backwards to the reservoir
- From Khatib MRT Station, exist A and follow the pathway (you will by pass Home Team NS Khatib and ORTO. You can choose to continue walking toward the traffic light and cross the road or cross the overhead bridge, bypass the sport stadium cross the traffic light to reach this entrance (see first photo)

If you are up for some water activities, you can consider renting a kayak and kayak around the reservoir. Otherwise you can admire the community garden or try out the fitness equipment at the fitness corner. There is a heritage bridge which I have yet to explore.
As you continue walking further and you will bypass a fishing jetty for avid anglers to hook up fishes that were swimming in the water. Follow the track and it will lead you to the Springfield Park Connector.

So far I am able to catch the beautiful sunrise view. Maybe be one of these days I will be able to catch the sunset view.

Till then onwards to Springfield Park.
XOXO
