Tuck at a neighbourhood coffee shop is where Chef Kin HK Wanton Noodles is located. We were around the area and my parents was talking about the wanton noodles stall which was recently open. When we reached the coffee shop there was already a queue. From the poster it mention that the waiting time is around +/- 60 mins.

Since it’s newly open I think most patrons were here to try the noodles that is open by a chef who used to work at Crystal Jade. In all honesty, I am not a huge fan of wanton noodles (so I am not sure if I will like it). The initial plan was to order 2 packs of noodles and since we need to queue might as well order another pack for myself to try.
There isn’t much choice from the menu, it’s rather simple and I was hoping there is the char siu (Chinese BBQ) pork option. Sadly, nope char siu.
- HK Braised Beef Brisket Noodles (Soup/Dry) – SGD 5.50
- HK Dumplings Noodles (Soup/Dry) – SGD 5.00
- HK Wanton Noodles (Soup/Dry) – SGD 5.00
- HK Dumplings / Wanton Soup – SGD 5.00
- Fried Wanton / Dumpling – SGD 4.00
Since the price difference is SGD 0.50 for the beef brisket version, I though why not give that a try. So we ordered the beef brisket + wanton noodles + dumplings soup to try it out.
The waiting time for us is about 30ish mins + since we ordered take away by the time we tried the noodles is about an hour from the time we ordered the food.

The type of egg noodles used is the ‘Angel’ hair type. I see reviews where other describe the noodles as ‘QQ’ (springy), for mine I think it so-so could be cause we had ours Ta-bao (Singlish for take away). The soy sauce for the noodles was decent. Price at SGD 5, you get 5 pieces of wontons or 7 pieces of beef brisket.

The beef brisket is tender and has slightly strong beef smell/taste. If you are not a fan of beef you will notice it immediately. The beef and noodles combo make the meal very filling! My parents mention that the wanton wrapper is silky soft and tasted good. As for the dumplings and the soup base, the dumplings wrapper I think it slightly thicker, the filling consists of prawn + a bit of meat + mushrooms. The dumpling is good, I can taste the freshness and firmness of the prawn but not so much of the meat and mushrooms. What I did not enjoy is the soup base. It was bland and has a weird after taste. Maybe it’s meant to be like that but I prefer my soup to be flavourful pack with natural goodness.

Our verdict.. hmm.. it’s nothing out of ordinary. It did not scream to us that we must come back for more! Hence, I would give this a miss but might be back to try the herbal Bak Kut Teh (pork ribs soup) from another stall within the same coffee shop which is rather hard to find in Singapore. That will be for other post.
And if you are looking for fresh coconut juice straight out from the husk the fruit/vegetables shop opposite the coffee shop offers that. But it has to be Ta-bao (Singlish for take away). At SGD 2.50 per coconut, so worth it. Just sharing 😋
Till then take care and be safe everyone!
XOXO
