Singapore – TungLok Signature

** I visited TungLok Signature just when Singapore relax its “Phase 3 (Heightened Alert)” which allows dinning at restaurants for up to 5 paxs from 12 Jul onwards. However, due to the increased of community cases, it was later announced on 19 Jul that from 19 Jul – 8 Aug dinning at restaurants will revert back to 2 paxs. Again on 20 Jul another announcement was made to supersede the measures introduced on 19 Jul 2021. In short, Singapore is currently in Phase 2 (Heighten Alert) where dining in at restaurants is not allowed from 22 Jul – 18 Aug. **

Tung Lok Signature À La Carte buffet is truly worth paying for. In the past, the buffet was for minimum of 4 person not sure when they started offering a minimum of 2 person. Could be due to Covid – I am not so sure and did not asked the staff.

Many many moons ago we used to visit this restaurant – Noble House at UIC building, Shenton way. Which was part of Tung Lok group and the À La Carte buffet was really good. I remember we kept going back to enjoy our meal and also invited our friends to join us for dinner. Since the building was demolished in 2013 and the restaurant had closed down we have not had À La Carte Chinese buffet since then.

Read about Tung Lok Signature À La Carte Buffet in the past but due to their minimum number of person we did not visit them. Until recently, when my parents joined a half day discovery Singapore tour as part of the government efforts to support Singapore tourism business they visited Tung Lok Signature for their dinner. That when we discovered that the minimum number of person has changed to 2!

There was also a change in dinning restriction relax from 12 Jul onwards and we managed to visit them before the rules changes on 19 Jul and 20 Jul respectively. We choose to have our dinner at 6pm and decided to opt for the premium menu as there was a SGD 20 difference and you get to have a portion of the special selection per person. I felt it was more worth it than having their standard buffet.

Buffet Price

To prepare for our sumptuous dinner, we had a light brunch earlier in the day. To be honest we were kind of famish when it was close to dinner time and we were truly looking forward to dinner! We arrived slightly earlier then our reservation and we were able to get a seat upon arrival. Our table was next to the window and we get to see the Singapore River.

Everything on the menu looks so good and we *AHEM* when overboard by ordering too many dishes all at once. I counted we ordered around 18 – 20 dishes including deserts, some deserts were on repeat a few times!! I thought the kitchen would have space out our orders, well they did not. The special selection came all at once. As soon as we finish 2 dishes the next dishes will keep coming out, till our table was filed with so much glorious food. Deserts was only served at our request.

Out of all the dishes we ordered, I particularly enjoyed the Braised Sliced Garoupa served in Hot Stone Pot, TungLok Chilli Crab, Sauteed Beef with Black Pepper and Purple Glutinous Rice with Ice Cream (I had 2 serving of this!!).

Though we may had ordered way too much, we were also mindful not to waste any food hence we cleared every single dish. At the end of our dinner, we were totally in food karma coma, as we had eaten way too much from what we would usually eat on a daily basics.

There was nothing to complain about the standard of Tung Lok Signature. Dinner was truly very satisfying, every dish was so delicious and do not disappoint. The portion size of the dishes was ok as well. It was absolutely worth it to pay for the premium buffet. I would love to go back and try the other dishes we did not ordered the last round. If you are looking for good À La Carte Chinese Buffet, I would recommend you to give Tung Lok Signature a try and let me know what you think once the dinning restriction is lifted.

Take care and be safe.

XOXO
