Update 2023: Physical Shop Closed
** I visited Nawab Briyani before Singapore tighten it’s covid19 measure announced on 14 May. “Phase 2 (Heightened Alert)” takes effect from 16 May – 13 Jun where in house dining at restaurants are not allowed.**
This is of the new eatery opened sometime end of March (I believe), selling local Indian Muslim delights such as briyani, roti prata, thosai and many more! I was excited to give it a try before it was due to open when I walked past this shop.
We decided to pop by one weekend to give it a try. I must say their set menu for both the plain rice and briyani seems value for money. Sadly the plain rice set menu + extra set menu were not available during my visit. Which in my opinion seems more worth it than the briyani extra value set.
Since only briyani was available, we settled for briyani extra value meal. You will have a choice of chicken, fish, mutton, prawn, crab and lamb + egg masala + a hot/cold drink of your choice. 😊
When we were serve our meal, the first impression was, Wah, why the colour of the rice is different? The colour I am used to are usually white with a mix of orange/yellow rice. For Nawab’s Briyani, their rice is brownish in colour. The way it was presented does not look appetizing neither does it look spicy. My chicken was cover the rice and have to shift the rice as side to see if it my order.

Well looks can be deceiving… And the truth is their briyani rice is slightly spicy, flavorful, smells so good and taste delicious! Their curry is also slightly spicy and I truly enjoyed my meal. However, I do wish that the type of chicken drumstick they used could be those L-shape drumstick. It would be meatier and I will have enough chicken meat to go along with the rice.
For the price point, I feel the portion size is slightly less than average. For other stall when I have briyani, it is always a challenge to finish the portion and at time there will be wastage. For Nawab’s Briyani, I could easily finish the whole plate without much struggle.
As I am writing this, I think I wanna drop by their shop again to order the briyani or try their masala thosai! Hee Hee! 🤤
XOXO
