Singapore – Caffe Pralet

This is my first time in years since I travel to this part of Singapore. The last time round where I ever ventured to this part was when I was working around the area many moons ago. 🤭 Since then I have never went back, recently I made the journey to meet a friend for brunch and she suggested Caffe Pralet.

Caffe Pralet is located at Tiong Bahru, you can take a slow stroll from Tiong Bahru MRT Station and it takes around 15 mins to reach. In fact, over the years many cafes or restaurants has popped up at Tiong Bahru which is one of Singapore earliest estate. If you do a quick google search for eatery around Tiong Bahru, you will be spoilt with so many choices. Tiong Bahru market alone is already famous for their foods (that for another day). With the current covid situation and being lazy I simply cannot bring myself to travel to this part of Singapore just for food unless I am meeting a friend.

Caffe Pralet was set up back in July 2006 by Creative Culinaire and the aim of the cafe was to showcase the culinary creations from the school. Just by looking at their website make me wanna try a bit of everything but unfortunately I only got 1 stomach! LOL ~ 🤣

The vibe of the cafe is pretty cosy and it wasn’t very crowded when we visited them. As I was looking at the menu, I was intrigue by their signature 3 flavoured bread ~ Spicy Tuna Mayo. Spicy tuna sound ordinary but it was the 3 flavoured bread which capture my attention as it look so pretty (in the website). And their chili crab cheese fries sound so sinfully delicious! Sadly these 2 items were not available during the time I was there. 😭

So I settle for Mentaiko Battered Fish rice bowl (silly me I forget to ask the most important question!!) + Truffle Fries + Passionfruit soursop drink. The truffle fries serving is of a good size for sharing, the presentation and portion size of the rice bowl is fair. The mentaiko sauce is not very salty and its served with mushrooms, broccoli and cherry tomatoes. Sadly they used dory fish fillet which is not my favourite type of fish. If they have used other white fish fillet I would have enjoyed my rice bowl even better!

Would I visit them again yeah I would love to try their dessert and the fusion mains. Hopefully during my next visit I get to try the signature 3 flavoured bread sandwiches. And if I am not toooo lazy to head out to this part of Singapore! 🤭

XOXO
