Singapore – One Sushi 一口寿司

One Sushi was establish in 2018 and it is located at Yishun Town Square (Northpoint City). From their Facebook page Once Sushi is helmed by a team of passionate Singaporean and this is a home grown modern Japanese concept restaurant. Over the past years they have gain popularity. The price of their sushi is affordable at S$1.50 per plate.

They also have an ongoing weekday promotion Mon – Thur from 2 – 5pm the Sushi from the conveyor belt is price at S$1 per plate. There are various varieties of sushi from the conveyor belt, if what you want is not on the conveyor belt you may order it via a separate order form and they will serve it to you.

This was taken when they are about to close for the day… I was also waiting for the dinners on the opposite table to leave before taking the shot
One of the many sushi which we order thru their separate order form

I have visited them a couple of times and whenever I walk pass the restaurant there is always people queueing. Given that Lunar New Year was around the corner, I was looking around for affordable freshly prepared Yu Sheng and this is my first time buying Yu Sheng from One Sushi.

Unh uh… No No I am not going to join in the debate on the origins of Yu Sheng.. If you are interested you can do a quick search and you will see various articles debating on the origin… 😬

I brought their Salmon Prosperity Yu Sheng which is around S$38.80 and it is recommend for 6 – 8 paxs. Given the price point I would say it’s a pretty good size portion and it’s affordable. I must give praise to their salmon. They are very generous and the salmon slices are thick (15 pieces shaped like roses)! Unlike other restaurants where their salmon slices are usually very thin. Sometime we even have to top up to get another portion of the salmon slices.

I ordered a takeaway for the Yu Sheng and my only request is that they provide us with either a recycle bag or a paper bag big enough to fit the Yu Sheng box properly. The plastic bag provided was flimsy and it was very difficult to carry around. 🥴

During my recent visit, we tried their garlic butter lobster… For the price I think it’s very fair (S$25ish – Can’t remember the exact price)… The garlic butter sauce is flavourful, somehow I was a little disappointed as I felt that the lobster doesn’t have the “wow/yum” factor. And I also feel that the lobster was slightly over cook.

Their mentaiko cod is really amazing. The cod fillet is flaky and juicy. I can taste the sweetness of the cod and the saltiness of the mentaiko. It’s great on its own or you can pair it with a bowl of rice. I also enjoyed their chawanmushi which was silly smooth and I like that they added the imitation shark fin which give a bit of crunch.

Dining at One Sushi was pleasant and I am sure you will not be disappointed with their sushi. Go check them out and let me know what you think. 😊

XOXO
