Standing at 163m, this is one of Singapore highest hill – Bukit Timah Hill. It has been many many years since I last visited Bukit Timah Nature Reserve. I believe it should be way back in time when I was in secondary school and we were there for some camp hike activities.

Restoration work was done from September 2014 to October 2016. I cannot recall how the reserve looks like in the past, for my recent visit over the weekend I note that there is a public toilet, vending machine, water cooler and a visitor center at the foot of the hill. I guess it’s an improvement/upgrade!

We were there in the late morning and it was very crowded with a lot visitors. Prior to visiting the reserve we did not check if the carpark would be open, so we were in for a surprise when the road leading to the carpark was block by the police.
As we were not very familiar with the surrounding, we have to make a U-turn to find alternative carparks. We tried Beauty World Centre car park and it was a wrong choice, there were so many other cars trying their luck to find a parking space. We then managed to find a parking space along Cheong Chin Nam Road! Whew ~ otherwise we would have gone home!
There are quite a number of trails that one could explore. As we did not check to see the different types of trails we just choose hike up to the summit via the main road.

The first part of the trail was a very steep slope up (if you are heading toward the summit) or steep slope down (if you are heading toward the entrance of the hill/reserve). Since it was so steep, one can get pretty breathless while wearing a mask. Hence, it is at your own discretion to decide whether you want to wear your mask while walking up the steep slope. Thereafter, the walk up to the summit is quite leisure.

Once we reached the summit, there was a group of monkeys playing around and many visitors are busying taking their photos while taking a break. It was definitely a good workout! On our way down, we chose the way we came up from. Maybe next time we will try the other trails to go up to the summit.
XOXO
