Singapore – PraChinBuri (Thai Kitchen)

Since the start of COVID19, I haven eat out for a long time. As a precaution, I would prefer to take away or have home cooked meal. This is pretty much my 2nd time eating out after Singapore Circuit Breaker was lifted in June.

It’s a new normal where everyone is required to wear mask once we leave our residence and while waiting for food to be served. Mask can only be removed only when the food are served. As I look around other dinners they seem pretty relaxed, while I felt kind of unsettled and all I can think was quickly finish my meal and quickly leave! Maybe it’s just me being overly paranoid. 🤷‍♀️ Well I guess better to be safe then sorry…

Anyway, PraChinBuri (Thai Kitchen) has been recommended by my mother’s friends a few times. They sang praises that the food served is delicious and the price is as competitive as the Chinese Chi Char if not much cheaper.

We went to PraChinBuri during dinner time, they do not many tables probably 2 big tables for bigger group – not more than 5 paxs + 5 smaller tables. It is located at a neighbourhood town and is a non – air conditioned environment. Waiting time was around 35mins for our food to be served, as they have to manage take away orders.

Once it’s our turn, the dishes keep coming out one after another. The portion of the food is of a good size. If I don’t remember wrongly they have both regular size and the upgrade size (I may be wrong). All the pictures below are their regular size portion.

Like every Thai Restaurants, Tom Yum soup is a must. It seems like a test to see how authentic the restaurant is. I must say the taste of the soup is quite good. It has a good balance of both sourish and spiciness. Their steam fish with Thai lemon is delicious. The seabass fish is fresh, does not have a fishy smell/taste and the aroma of the lemongrass is very fragrant.

Omelette with prawns – their price for this dish is pretty decent, you get to eat actual whole prawn not those tiny shrimps. Sambal petai prawn – loved the slightly spiciness, tanginess and saltiness of the anchovies compliments the petai. Yum! Petai (Bitter Beans/臭豆chou dou) has a pungent smell and acquired taste. It is also on the bitter side and it takes awhile to accept the taste. You can never go wrong with the classic basil stir fried pork/chicken. This is a must have dish whenever we had Thai cuisine.

For 3 paxs I think we ordered slightly too much cos towards the end of the meal we are struggling to finish our food and we thought about packing the unfinished food up. However in the end we manage to finish everything.

Overall, I feel the taste of PraChinBuri it’s pretty authentic, though I am not too sure if the owners/chefs are of Thai origins. I did not see any Halal certified; hence, Muslim friends out there you will have to give this place a miss.

PS: On a side note, so far I have tried their Pad Thai, Salted Fish Fried Rice, Pineapple Rice and Tom Yum Fried Rice. All tasted delicious except for the Pineapple Rice which I am not so much of a fan.

XOXO
