This was such an exciting experience. I had NEVER picked Pi Pi before… Hence, the first question that I asked was what is Pi Pi? After googling then I understood that Pi Pi is a type of clam commonly known as La La in Singapore! Now I am excited cos I have not experience Pi Pi picking before. Hence, I am not sure what to expect. We brought along a pail and a sieve.

When we arrived it was very windy, the sky was gloomy and the current was very strong. Yet it did not deter the other visitors from picking Pi Pi. Some have a shovel of some sort to dig the sands. While others used their hands and eyes power to pick the Pi Pi after each wave recedes.

I had a hard time using my eye power to pick the Pi Pi as each time the wave recedes, the next wave will hit the shore before I could even reach for the Pi Pi. Where we first started out there were other visitors around us and we decided to walk further down the beach to be away from other visitors so we could try to pick what we can.
The wind was very strong, unfortunately I did not have a hair tie to tie up my flying tangling messy hair and I am also worried that I will slip and fall! Needless to say, I am horrible at this! I think I only manage to pick 5 Pi Pi while my dad was very good in picking Pi Pi. What a bummer.

We decided to wash up and head back home as we were planning to have a BBQ dinner. There were toilet facilities as well as an open shower area for those who wish to have a quick rinse. Nearby the car park I notice there a Dune Boardwalk signage and I was curious so we decided to explore before since I may not be coming back here anytime soon.

It was a lovely walk up to the peak and the view from the peak was beautiful. You can even drive through the sand dune to explore the beach.

Back at home… we washed the Pi Pi and place it at the grill for it to cooked. What a lovely way to end the day after using our eye power to pick the Pi Pi! What an experience, I would love to go back and visit the beach again.
Have you tried Pi Pi picking before? Do share with me your experience!
XOXO
