Adelaide – Victor Harbor – The Original Victor Fish Shop

This my friends… as I am writing this, I can’t help but drool over the fish & chips! We will always visit this shop while we are at Victor Harbor. There is always this delicious fragrance lingering in the shop after the fish & chips were fried and served to the dinners.

Like all fish & chips shop in Adelaide, the order is freshly prepared. Somehow, I always feel that the batter which is used to coat the fish of your choice is light and crispy. You cannot really taste the greasiness after every single bite of the yummylicious fish. They would also slightly add some salt to the piping hot fish, which is truly mouth watering!

You may ask what is our all time favourite fish we would order… Well we first tried Garfish back in 2012, out to curiosity as we have not heard of such fish before. Prior to that we usually have Cod fish from Long John Silvers (In Singapore). If you visit the stalls selling western cuisine in Singapore hawker center/food court, usually they will served Dory fish.

While restaurants in Singapore such as The Manhattan Fish Market, Fish and co., Big Fish Small Fish, they do gives diners the option to select other types of fish such as Snapper, Barramundi, etc…) In my personal opinion the meat of the Dory fish is not firm, sometimes it can be a bit mushy with it has a fishy aftertaste which I do not enjoyed. Hence, after trying Garfish, the meat is firm and sweet and most importantly it does not have a fishy smell/aftertaste ever since then our preferred choice of fish will be Garfish.

If you happen to be at Victor Harbor, do give it a try and let me know what is your favourite type of fish.

XOXO
