This is another of my favourite place to have a meal whenever I am at Takashimaya. It located at the basement of Takashimaya and their queue is usually very long. You will need to make your order first before you queue for a table/seat.

Nakajima Suisan sells delicious and affordable Japanese grilled fish. They do have a varieties of fish for you to select. Depending on season, they will have seasonal fish, oysters, prawns, scallops, rainbow trout, etc.

I do not have a preferred grilled fish that I will gravitate to, I will always try different types of grilled fish. Usually, I will forgot the name of the fish I tried the previous round and will also forget to take a photo of the menu of what I ordered. Hence, sometimes I really enjoyed my grilled fish and sometimes I don’t.
One of the must have item would be their Chawanmushi (steam Japaneses egg custard). Although it is factory-made Chawanmushi, I find the egg custard very smooth. You can swallow it without having to chew. Once you are assign with a table they will heat it up the Chawanmushi and served it to you before your grilled fish arrives. There are 2 flavours – Crab or mushroom. I enjoyed both flavours but prefer the crab Chawanmushi more.
Recently, I enjoyed this particular seasonal fish – Akauo Hiraki Teishoku (Grilled Dried-Salted Perch Set). I think it’s worth my money as the fish portion is substantial! However, after a while I reached my limit and I will struggle to finish the fish.

I also tried their Mero Shioyaki Teishoku (Grilled Salted Toothfish Set) – You might ask how I remember the name.. Well this is my parents’ favourite fish, they will always order this same fish each time we visit. For the price point, I think the portion is kind of little as compared to the Akauo Hiraki Teishoku and it is only S$0.10 difference! Then again it’s a personal choice, do give it a try you have not already and let me know what you think!

XOXO
