Typically, I do not eat Mee Goreng while in Singapore or other parts of
Malaysia. But if it is in Penang, then it’s a different story. Penang Mee
Goreng is very different from Singapore and the other states in Malaysia. Why is it so you may ask? Well, first of all Penang Mee Goreng has ingredients added to their fried noodles!!! Unlike the one in Singapore or other states in Malaysia, it is usually red in colour and at most they only add eggs to the noodles and garnish it with cucumber and tomatoes sauce. This is not my favourite kind of Mee Goreng.
Could this unnamed stall sells one of the best Mee Goreng in Penang? In my opinion I think it could be! I tried this for the very first-time during CNY 2019 and I really love it a lot!
Fast forward to my recent trip back to Penang earlier this month, I went to look for this coffee shop which was nearby my aunt’s place. The stall is located in a Chinese Coffee shop – Chuan Foong and it sells 2 items. One stall sells Char Hor Fun and the other stall sell Mee Goreng and Mee Rebus.
What I like about this stall Mee Goreng was its moist unlike the usual styles where the Mee Goreng is very dry. The chef added various gravy to the noodles to make it flavorful and it was fried over charcoal. Ingredients such as potatoes, tau kua, Indian kueh was added in to the noodles. Beansprouts was added in as well, as I am not a fan of Beansprouts I choose to have it omitted from my noodles.
While I was there, I waited quite sometime for my Mee Goreng, given the waiting time I think it best to order more than 1 packet (Oh well, the kiasu in me..)
Their opening hours: 2 – 6 pm and they are closed on Monday & Friday
XOXO,
