Parit Buntar – Guan Hiang Biscuit

Seem like I’ve been enjoying this particular Heong Peah/ Beh Teh Soh (Fragrant Biscuit in hokkien) since young. But I did not know where my uncle brought it previously.

Guan Hiang have only one outlet which is located at Parit Buntar (a town within the Perak state). Every day Guan Hiang would be baking their fresh Heong Peah and packing it for the customer.

When I take my first bite off the freshly bake Heong Peah, I can feel the crunchy skin of the pastry, follow by the not so sweet sugary filling with a hint of malt. Aww.. just the perfect breakfast/teabreak snack.

According to the packing, it also recommend that we toast the Heong Peah in the over at 180 degree for about 2 minutes. Tried that option with my home oven and I think I should have put it the oven longer so that it will be more crunchy. Do note that different oven have different setting, so you may need to increase the temperature or toast it longer.

Dependent of your preference, one can opt for the original (white sugar) or the brown sugar. Overall, it is a yummy snack to be gifted to family or friends.

XOXO

Disclaimer: This is based on my personal preference. Do give it a try and let me know what you think.
